Helensburgh Canoe Club
The Club was formed in 2006 when a group of keen kayakers got together. It has grown rapidly and now has some 40 members of varying skill levels, from novice to expert, including qualified coaches.
Thanks to a lottery grant the Club has a fleet of boats (river, sea, open and all-purpose) and associated equipment for use of all members. A key feature is the Basic Skills training programmes. Adult courses are normally held in Autumn (Oct-Dec) and Winter (Jan-March). The Young Persons course runs from Easter to July. Trainees earn either Paddle Power awards (for those under 16), or Star Awards for those over 16. The program involves pool sessions on a Tuesday and at least three outdoor sessions. The sea kayakers have trips at least once a month and weekend expeditions involving camping on some of the most beautiful islands in west of Scotland. The river kayakers tend to be younger and organise monthly trips on rivers like the Awe, Orchy and the Tay.

Craignish Boat Club
Craignish Boat Club was formed in 1991 to enable people living on the remote Craignish peninsula, Argyll, to gain safe access to water for the purpose of sailing and kayaking activities. The Craignish peninsula includes the villages of Ardfern and Craobh Haven. The founding members of the club chose to have a specific focus on the children and young people on the peninsula and formed a cadet section for the purpose of sail and kayak training, as well as providing series racing and cruising for the adult and family members of the club.
